WWE News: Alberto Del Rio and Paige already moving on in post-WWE life

The couple is both moving onto non-wrestling ventures

Alberto Del Rio was released from WWE last week after a mutual agreement between the two parties. They apparently left on good terms, but Del Rio was obviously not happy with his last run. Paige seems to be on the way out as well. However, there is a lot of ambiguity on her status. Last week, before Del Rio was released, there were rumors that Paige was done with WWE and even sought legal council to get out of her contract that expires in 2019. But now, it is becoming more and more clear what her status is.

Paige and Del Rio seem to be moving on from life after WWE. Paige took to Instagram to announce that Alberto would be opening a restaurant called La Cantinita . The restaurant will open in San Antonio on September 29th, and will reportedly have special guests for the grand opening.

@el_patron_alberto is making history one restaurant at a time. First ever La Cantinita to arrive in states from Mexico. YOU can be apart of the grand opening experience when we have a 2 day fun filled extravaganza, you get to try amazing authentic food and drinks, mingle with celebrities, it's kid friendly with a great outdoor area and also live music for you and the family to enjoy. Come say hello! Dates and details to follow on the next post.

It is still unclear what the former Anti Diva ’s status n the WWE is. As of this writing, she is still with the WWE. Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter  said that her status is similar to that of AJ Lee around two years ago. However, the big difference is that there is no legal turmoil between Del Rio and WWE like there was between Punk and WWE. Punk’s lawsuit is still going on.

It will be interesting to see what comes out of the situation with Paige. She is still very young and could have a huge and long tenure with WWE ahead. However, if she chooses to opt out, then her legal team will really have to find a loophole in the contract, since WWE has a reputation of not allowing wrestlers who leave compete until their non-compete clause is over. Del Rio can now wrestle in Mexico, but it will only be next month until he can start to wrestle in the United States again.

As mentioned, it is highly unlikely that Del Rio will sign an exclusive contract to any promotion. He will be making enough money, as he did in his previous run in the indies. Plus, he is also in talks of becoming president of an MMA promotion in Mexico. So his wrestling career will end in just a couple of years.

Paige is taking business inquiries through Danielle@poschemodels.com. For those looking to check out the restaurant, the address is 17776 Blanco Rd, San Antonio, TX.
