WWE News: Alberto Del Rio blames decline in Total Divas' ratings on Paige's scenes being cut

The happy couple cannot stay out of the rumour mill!

What's the story?

Former WWE Superstar Alberto Del Rio took to Twitter to explain what he believes is the reason for the decline in ratings that Total Divas has seen recently.

In case you didn't know...

Total Divas is a reality show centred around the ladies of WWE. The first episode aired in mid-2013 and is now in its sixth season. It’s worth noting that recent episodes only drew around 566,000 viewers, despite airing Lana and Rusev’s wedding, which was supposed to be a big draw for the program.

Paige has been one of the stars of Total Divas since season 3.

However, she has been off of all WWE related television since the middle of last year, when a series of unfortunate events began to play out in her life. After being drafted to RAW in July 2016, Paige went on hiatus due to a neck injury.

In August, she was suspended for 30 days for violating the WWE Wellness Policy. In October, Paige violated the Wellness Policy for the second time and was then suspended for an additional 60 days.

The heart of the matter

In the midst of talk of Total Divas’ suffering ratings, Alberto Del Rio posted a tweet, which suggested that the show is hurting primarily due to the fact that Paige has not been featured on it.

What's next?

While Alberto has since moved on from the WWE and appears to be happy with his new ventures, including his role with Impact Wrestling, it is unclear what will go down with Paige. She has mentioned in the past that she still wants to be a professional wrestler and has also expressed her interest in returning to the WWE.

Author's take

It looks like El Patron is standing up for his fiancee and while that is nice to see, one can’t help but feel that instances like this can’t increase Paige’s chances of returning to the WWE.
