WWE News: Alberto Del Rio pulled from all upcoming WWE shows

Del Rio on his way out of the WWE?

It looks like Alberto Del Rio could be on his way out of the WWE once again. Del Rio and his real-life girlfriend, and former WWE Divas Champion, Paige (real name Saraya-Jade Bevis) were both suspended for 30 days after violating WWE’s Wellness Policy. There have been no reports on if the couple tested positive for the same substance, however, it should be noted that Del Rio has an out clause in his contract that he is reportedly intent on using.

According to Dave Meltzer in the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Del Rio has been removed from all upcoming WWE Shows including those after his 30-day suspension is up. This could indicate that Del Rio has already made the decision to exercise his out clause and take his leave from the massive professional wrestling promotion once again.

There are a few options for Del Rio once he leaves the WWE, including longtime wrestling promotion TNA which is currently under new ownership in the form of Billy Corgan after former President Dixie Carter has found herself on the way out of the company.

It will certainly be a decrease in pay for Del Rio regardless of where he ends up, however, he will be able to be pushed as more of a top star in his new promotion and will have less travel time on the road as well. The option to move on for Del Rio, who has already accomplished quite a bit during his WWE tenure, certainly sounds like a very appealing one given the current circumstances.

Del Rio could also return to the new up-and-coming Lucha Underground promotion which he was briefly signed to during his hiatus from the WWE. He would be returning to his fellow WWE alumni such as John Morrison and Rey Mysterio. A return to Lucha Underground would also be a very enticing one given the amount of potential the young promotion has.

Finally, Del Rio has been attracting interest from the Combate Americas MMA promotion after he and his girlfriend Paige attended one of their shows earlier this month. A career change from professional wrestling to mixed martial arts for Del Rio would be interesting, to say the least, as he would be joining former and current WWE talents such as CM Punk and Brock Lesnar in the move to the grueling sport.

Del Rio’s suspension is set to culminate on the 16th of September.
