WWE News: Alexa Bliss on her WrestleMania 34 match, which NXT Superstar she wants to wrestle, more
What’s the story?
In an interview with SportsNet, Alexa Bliss opened up on a myriad of topics.
Bliss asserted that she aims at making her WrestleMania 34 matchup with Nia Jax stand out from the others. Besides, Bliss spoke about constantly evolving her character; as well as which NXT Superstar she would like to wrestle.
In case you didn’t know…
Alexa Bliss is the first Superstar in WWE history to have captured both the SmackDown and RAW Women’s Championships.
Bliss is the reigning RAW Women’s Champion and, is presently involved in a feud with her real-life friend Nia Jax, with the said feud focusing on Bliss betraying Jax, while pretending to be her friend and her well-wisher.
The heart of the matter
Alexa Bliss explained that she looks to constantly evolve her on-screen character, something that’s become increasingly important in this day and age, particularly considering the short attention spans of fans and people in general today, with most being habituated with latching on to their phones throughout their waking hours.
Bliss added she’s not the best at a lot of things, but simply tries to be different. She stated that much like The Undertaker, who portrayed several different versions of his character, as well as Stone Cold Steve Austin, Triple H and John Cena, she tries to constantly keep changing her character, the way one delivers promos, presents oneself; so on and so forth.
Additionally, Bliss stated the following on making her WrestleMania 34 performance special—
"I feel like with our match, it's going to be the story. People are going to be invested in the story that we tell, not the moves that we try to do or the things that we try to put together. People know we're best friends, people know we've had issues, so they want to see us go in there and physically and emotionally beat each other up."
Furthermore, Bliss emphasized that she would love to face NXT Women’s Champion Ember Moon, as she’s spent some time with her in NXT, and Moon is a great person whose story she truly respects. Bliss continued that Moon worked very hard as she finally secured a spot in the WWE after multiple WWE tryouts, is great to work with, and that she’d love to have a match with the NXT Superstar.
What’s next?
Alexa Bliss is presently set to defend her RAW Women’s Championship against Nia Jax at WrestleMania 34 which takes place at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana on April 8th.
Author’s take
Alexa Bliss is perhaps one of the most honest, hard-working WWE Superstars today.
Bliss is a true 'Goddess' on the mic, and her mat work seems to be catching up with her promo skills. Here’s hoping she continues to ascend to greater heights of success in the WWE.
