Little Miss Bliss can talk with the best, but will she hold on to her title?

What’s the story?

RAW Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss has been heralded as a great promo, but she says her skills on the mic are largely due to help from her mother.

On an episode of Lillian Garcia’s Chasing Glory podcast, Bliss revealed that her mom helped her develop her mic skills back during her NXT classes.

In case you didn’t know...

Bliss debuted on the main roster in 2016 following the WWE draft, but her promo ability became one of her biggest assets following several appearances on Talking Smack.

She would go on to win her first title at TLC 2016 by defeating Becky Lynch in a tables match for the SmackDown Women's Championship.

After being traded to Raw after the Superstar Shakeup, Bliss would win the Raw Women’s Championship by defeating Bayley at Payback.

The heart of the matter

Bliss told Garcia that the promo classes at NXT took place once a week, but her mother would act as her audience when she was practising her delivery.

“My mom helped me a lot. We'd have promo classes in NXT once a week and me and my mom would make it our thing to come up with a promo and it would be fun. So I was always doing these promos in front of my mom and she'd be like, 'Hmm, that didn't sound very convincing.' She would just be like honest, you know what I mean?”

Bliss would go on to talk about how her mother helped her in a similar way when she was cheerleading and said that her mom would have her go through a routine in her promo delivery.

What’s next?

Bliss will defend her RAW Women’s Championship against Emma, Sasha Banks, and Nia Jax in a Fatal-4-Way at No Mercy.

The show will emanate from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California and will take place on September 24th, 2017.

Author’s take

Bliss has made a big impact in women’s wrestling in the short time she’s been on the main roster. With her only being 26, there’s no telling how much greater her mic skills may become in a few years time.
