WWE News: Alexa Bliss talks about her experience in NXT
What's the story?
Current Raw Women's Champion Alexa Bliss was recently a guest on Sam Roberts' wrestling podcast. During her appearance on Roberts' podcast, Bliss talked about her experience in NXT and what it was like performing in front of smaller crowds.
In case you didn't know...
Alexa Bliss was first signed by the WWE back in 2013 under the company's developmental territory of NXT. During her time with NXT, Bliss would go on and wrestle against the likes of Charlotte Flair, Sasha Banks, Carmella and more.
However, Alexa's main role on the main roster was to act as the valet for Blake and Murphy, who would also win the NXT Tag Team Titles thanks to the help of the Raw Women's champion.
In 2015, throughout the month of October and November, she was involved in a feud against Bayley over the NXT Women's Championship, however, the 26-year-old was unsuccessful in capturing the title from Bayley. Bliss got her main roster call up in 2016 when she was drafted to Smackdown Live as part of the draft.
The heart of the matter
During her interaction with Sam Roberts, Alexa talked about a host of topics and here are a few highlights:
She said that performing in front of smaller crowds is harder than performing in front of a large number of people. Bliss said that performing in the Full Sail University made her much more nervous because she could make eye contact with almost every single person in the arena, which is very scary for her. But, on the other hand, performing in front of bigger crowds is easier due to the energy of the WWE Universe.
Bliss stated that she was happy with the way she came up on the main roster because she is someone who never got the chance to wrestle a lot during her time in NXT. The former Smackdown Women's Champion also thanked Buddy Murphy and Wesley Blake for allowing her to come into their group and help Bliss in evolving the Alexa Bliss character.
"I know that I wouldn't be where I am if it weren't for [Wesley] Blake and [Buddy] Murphy allowing me to come into their group and learning the character, and evolving it, and they are very, very proud of me and I'm very grateful for that," said Bliss.
What's next?
Alexa Bliss' next goal is to focus on the first ever Women's Royal Rumble match which will take place on January 28th, 2018. Bliss, however, might not be a part of the Royal Rumble match if she continues to stay as the Raw Women's Champion.
Author's Take
In my opinion, Alexa Bliss has done a tremendous job in developing her character in these past few years.
