What's the story?

RAW Women's Champion Alexa Bliss recently participated in an interview with Bleacher Report, wherein she spoke about improving her skills in the ring. Bliss spoke in detail about training at the Performance Centre by refreshing her current moveset and adding new moves to it.

In case you didn't know...

Alexa Bliss rose to fame in NXT by managing the then-NXT Tag Team Champions Blake & Murphy. After working a brief programme with Blake & Murphy, Bliss got called up to SmackDown LIVE during the annual draft.

After arriving on SmackDown, Bliss was immediately pushed to be the #1 heel in the SD Women's Division. She soon won the SmackDown Women's Championship from Becky Lynch and then later got transferred to RAW via the Superstar Shakeup, wherein she quickly worked her way up to become the red brand's Women's Champion.

However, throughout her rise from NXT to the main-roster, the WWE Universe has been critical of her in-ring skills, despite her obvious talent on the mic.

The heart of the matter

During the interview with Bleacher Report, Bliss spoke about her constant efforts to improve in the ring.

"I'm still working on my in-ring ability. I know I'm not the best in [the] ring. I try to get better with every match. I go to the [WWE Performance Center] and try to refresh my skills and learn new ones and bring that into my matches."

In the interview, Bliss also spoke about getting drafted onto the main roster, while being touted as the "most underwhelming draft pick", and making most of the opportunity presented.

She also spoke about working as an extra alongside Charlotte & Sasha Banks for Triple H's entrance at WrestleMania 30, in which Triple H told them that this was the beginning of their careers. She further added about wanting to have that same moment Hunter had at WM 30.

What's next?

This Sunday, 'The Goddess of WWE' will defend her RAW Women's Championship against former six-time Women's Champion Mickie James, at WWE's upcoming PPV - Tables, Ladders, and Chairs aka TLC.

Author's take

It's great to know that Bliss' making a conscious effort to improve herself in the ring. Unlike fan-favourites like Bayley, Sasha Banks, Charlotte & Becky Lynch, who won the fans over with their in-ring skills. Bliss, along with a few other NXT Superstars, failed to grasp the audience's attention due to her limited in-ring abilities.

However, things changed for her when she landed on the main-roster, which is undoubtedly more about the promos and story-telling than the matches. Bliss shined here and became the face of both RAW & SmackDown Women's Division.

However, Bliss's in-ring skills still leave a lot to be desired. Her matches haven't been anything to write home about. So, if Bliss works hard and manages to strike that perfect balance between a worker and a story-teller, it will end up doing wonders for her career.
