WWE News: Alicia Fox vs. Sasha Banks announced for TLC
What’s the story?
After Sasha Banks bested Alicia Fox on Monday Night Raw for the second time in two weeks, a rematch was announced for the TLC kickoff show.
In case you didn’t know...
Banks recently won the Raw Women’s Championship back at SummerSlam to become a four-time champion on the main roster, but lost the title to Alexa Bliss a few weeks later on Raw.
Alicia Fox spent a majority of her time as the valet for Noam Dar, but returned to the Women’s Division as a competitor this past month and competed for the right to face Asuka at the TLC pay-per-view.
The heart of the matter
Banks made Fox tap out with the Bank Statement last week on Raw, but Fox claimed she was scratching her nose and the ref misunderstood, so a rematch was booked for this weak.
After Fox lost to the Bank Statement again this week, she attacked Banks backstage and assaulted a referee out of frustration.
WWE announced on Twitter that Fox was fined for putting her hands on the referee and they also announced that Fox and Banks will meet in singles competition for the third time this month at the TLC pay-per-view.
What’s next?
Banks has maintained dominance in this feud with two victories back to back and there may be a third at TLC.
However, the WWE has been known to swerve fans at random and the fact that a loss for Banks wouldn’t do her any real harm could mean that Fox might pick up the win this Sunday.
Author’s Take
This match doesn’t have any implications for the Raw Women’s Championship, so the outcome doesn’t really matter.
Many fans want Banks to be in a more high-profile spot in the Women’s division, but the company seemingly doesn’t want to keep her at the level on a consistent basis. So wrestling in non-title matches could be her fate for the remainder of the year.
