WWE News: Almas and Vega disclose their future plans

Almas and Vega issued a really stern warning
Almas and Vega issued a really stern warning

What's the story?

SmackDown Live superstar Andrade 'Cien' Almas made a big debut on SmackDown Live, on this week's show. Shortly after, his business associate Zelina Vega then cut a vicious promo, making the intentions of the duo known.

Zelina Vega would go to Twitter and send out a message without mincing her words. The duo had arrived from NXT to take over!

In case you didn't know...

Andrade 'Cien' Almas arrived on the NXT brand as a hot international prospect. Somehow, all his momentum fizzled out in a few months as a babyface and this led to a big change.

Almas was showcased as a partygoer who lacked focus. Zelina Vega arrived on the scene as his business associate, and the two performers would step it up as they dropped opponents one after the other, all the way to the prestigious NXT Championship.

Almas was called up to the main roster as part of the Superstar Shake-Up and drafted to the SmackDown Live brand.

The heart of the matter

Because of the message, it is pretty clear that Vega and Almas will be heels for the foreseeable future. This is a relief considering that Bobby Roode excelled as a heel in NXT but has not fared nearly as well as a babyface in the main roster across both brands.

There is some very interesting wordplay here as well. The word 'take over' has strong NXT connotations and it is clear that it's a deliberate touch. I wonder if this will be their WWE main roster catchphrase, in the weeks that do follow.

What's next?

It remains to be seen whom Almas will feud with first on SmackDown Live. Someone like Tye Dillinger, who hasn't had much TV time may be ideal for the said role. Maybe he can even enter the US title picture.

Author's take

I think Almas possesses a world of talent. I think, if booked right, he can even enter the WWE Championship picture down the line someday.

Vega is also money and the pair can definitely go places if they're given the opportunity.
