WWE News: An update on Paige's injury

Enter

So, you may remember that, on Friday, Mike Johnson from PW Insider reported that Paige has been told she will never be cleared to return to the ring shortly after we had reported on Paige commenting on her injury and subsequent comeback on Instagram.

Well, there has now been another twist to the tale in the timing of both events.

It would seem that, if reports are to believed, WWE informed Paige that she would not be returning to the ring on Monday night at WWE RAW. However, the Instagram message was posted on Friday, three days later.

The comeback is always stronger than the setback ?? @wwe

While the reports have come from one of the most reputable sources possible and there is pretty much no reason to doubt them, we have not yet heard from WWE on the matter, and have only heard from Paige once - via the above post.

Now, obviously "comeback" doesn't necessarily mean a physical, in-ring comeback, and Paige does have other projects in the pipeline with a movie about her life due to be released and building the Saraya brand on social media too, a clothing label based on being different.

However, it is interesting that this was posted AFTER Paige was reportedly told she would not return, although it is good to see she is maintaining a positive outlook.

For those who don't know, Paige was injured during a six-woman tag team match last month at a New York house show with the match even stopped after Paige took a heavy knock.

Paige was able to walk to the back but the reports following hinted at a lengthy spell on the sidelines, with Paige having just returned from a prolonged period away from WWE due to a serious neck injury that required surgery.

You can see the footage of the latest injury below.

The other factor in this is that Paige also suffers from scoliosis, which means neck and back injuries require extra caution as she has a natural curviture to her spine. WWE diagnosed this early and her career and it has been manageable, but obviously repeated neck injuries do not help the matter.

Now, WWE has been inundated with tweets from fans demanding answers after the reports surfaced and, while there's no reason to doubt Mike Johnson, Paige is still a confirmed participant in the WWE Women's Royal Rumble Match on the 28th of January - although that now looks like it definitely won't happen.

Paige had only returned to WWE in November to a rapturous ovation.

Nothing is ever really official until WWE confirms it, and Paige has only really hinted at a spell on the sidelines - but placing these events in a timeline does make interesting reading and perhaps raises more questions than answers.

No matter what happens, we wish Paige a speedy recovery from her most recent knock and wish her all the best during what has to be a difficult time for someone who just appeared to be regaining momentum in her career.

We'll keep you updated on the Paige situation as we get it.
