What's the story?

WWE Super ShowDown will take place at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on Friday, June 7.

A first-time match between The Undertaker and Goldberg has already been confirmed for the event, and WWE has now announced that Braun Strowman will face Bobby Lashley one-on-one for the first time on WWE television.

In case you didn't know…

Braun Strowman has been one of the most prominent Superstars on Raw since he split from The Wyatt Family and became a singles competitor in July 2016.

Although he has repeatedly struggled to achieve his ultimate goal of winning the Universal Championship, “The Monster Among Men” has more than made up for that by using his incredible power to destroy opponents (and vehicles) on a regular basis over the last three years.

In contrast, another freakishly strong Superstar on the Raw roster, Bobby Lashley, returned to WWE in April 2018 and initially struggled to connect with the audience as a babyface.

Since he started showing a more aggressive side to his character in September 2018, “The All Mighty” has been involved in more meaningful storylines, notably with The Shield and Finn Balor, and he has recently fought battles on his own again after an apparent split from Lio Rush, his former hype man.

Strowman and Lashley were originally scheduled to meet one-on-one for the first time on the February 25 episode of Raw but Lashley attacked his opponent before the bell rang, meaning the match never got started.

The heart of the matter

WWE released the following statement to confirm that Braun Strowman and Bobby Lashley will do battle at Super ShowDown:

In what is sure to be a massive collision, “The Monster Among Men” Braun Strowman will go one-on-one against “The All Mighty” Bobby Lashley at WWE Super ShowDown.
The two explosive Superstars each boast their own unique form of ruthless aggression that could cause an international incident of pain and destruction when all is said and done. Can the ring possibly contain them? Find out at WWE Super ShowDown.

What's next?

Braun Strowman was originally scheduled to participate in the 2019 men’s Money In The Bank ladder match on May 19. However, he lost his place to Sami Zayn after suffering a defeat at the hands of the former NXT champion on the May 13 episode of Raw.

As for Bobby Lashley, his most recent appearance also came during the latest episode of Raw, where he teamed with Elias in a losing effort against Roman Reigns & The Miz, and he is without a match at Money In The Bank.
