What’s the story?

WWE superstar Apollo recently sat down for an exclusive interview with The Mirror in order to promote WWE’s upcoming Elimination Chamber pay-per-view. During the interview, Apollo talked about a host of topics including what he needs to do in order to become a champion in WWE, his current faction Titus Worldwide, and much more.

In case you didn’t know…

Apollo made his WWE debut in 2015 as part of the company’s developmental brand of NXT, where he first competed at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn and defeated Tye Dillinger in his debut match for the promotion. The former GCW Heavyweight Champion made his main roster debut in 2016 as a part of the red brand, that is, Monday Night Raw and during WWE’s last superstar shake-up, Apollo was retained at Monday Night Raw where he currently serves as a member of Titus O’Neil’s faction called Titus Worldwide.

The heart of the matter

While speaking with The Mirror, Apollo opened up about what he believes he should do in order to become a champion in the WWE and a host of other related topics. Here are a few highlights from the interview:

On what Apollo thinks he needs to do in order to become a champion in WWE:

According to Apollo, he believes that his moment in the WWE will come sooner or later, however, as of right now his only focus is to work harder and focus on his current work in the WWE. Apollo said, he likes to stay humble and focused and whenever an opportunity knocks on the door, he looks to take full advantage of it. Apollo added, he tries to give his very best for the WWE and if there’s anything specific the company wants him to do, then he makes sure to do that to the best of his ability.

“Staying injury free is another thing I try and do, especially with the talent that's out there right now, if you get injured, someone else will come in and take your spot. So I train as hard as I can, make sure I stay healthy especially with my eating and dieting and the rest will take care of itself.”- Apollo stated.

On his experience with Titus Worldwide:

Apollo admitted that he is currently enjoying everything that he is doing with the Titus Worldwide and believes that the addition of Dana Brooke to the group is a great dynamic. Additionally, Apollo also praised his tag team partner Titus O’Neil by stating that the former Raw Tag Team Champion is an amazing guy both inside and outside the ring and has also helped Apollo a lot in real life as well. Apollo added, that the one thing he learned from Titus is to show people more personality and character.

“He is such an amazing human being, being around him on camera helps me, allows me to be myself and whether or not we continue with this, hopefully, I can continue to be more comfortable and more relaxed like that on camera and take the personality that I've shown in Titus Worldwide and carry it on to another tag team that I'm in, or as a singles competitor.”- Apollo added.

On showing a different side as a tag team wrestler:

Apollo said, that he and Titus have two very different styles and the outcome of them as a duo is very interesting.

“Titus and myself, we can go out there and be funny or whatever the case may be, but when it's time to get to business, we get serious, we put that face on and go out there and throw people around and have that killer instinct.”- Apollo stated.

What’s next?

Apollo and Titus O’Neil are now slated to get a shot at the Raw Tag Team Titles at this year’s Elimination Chamber in Las Vegas, this Sunday at the T-Mobile Arena.

Author’s Take

I think that the duo of Apollo and Titus is indeed a very interesting combo and in my opinion, they will certainly be a great choice as the new Raw Tag Team Champions.
