WWE News: Aron Stevens, formerly known as Damien Sandow, lands role in Midnight, Texas
What’s the story?
Former WWE fan-favourite Damien Sandow may not be a regular in the squared circle any more - but the man behind the gimmick, Aron Stevens, has grabbed his chance and landed a role in NBC drama Midnight, Texas!
Stevens broke the news on Barnburner’s No Holds Barred podcast.
In case you didn't know...
Aron Stevens hasn't wrestled since 2017, last appearing for Impact Wrestling as Aron Rex where he was the first ever Grand Champion, but Stevens is definitely most warmly remembered for his Damien Sandow and Mizdow characters which are still fondly remembered among the WWE Universe. Stevens was shockingly released from WWE in 2016 despite being one of the hottest characters on television.
Since departing Impact Wrestling in 2017, Sandow quashed claims that he hasn't retired from the business, but that he was excited by other ventures outwith wrestling.
The heart of the matter
Aron Stevens took to Barnburner’s No Holds Barred podcast to break exciting news regarding his future, confirming that he'd be appearing in NBC’s Midnight, Texas.
The drama is based on a Charlaine Harris book - a name you may recognise as being the author responsible for the books which were adapted for the hugely popular show True Blood.
As a lot of people know I kinda moved out to California, trying the acting thing. One thing led to another and I kinda got very, very lucky. I don’t know if you guys watch the NBC show Midnight Texas. But if not you should definitely check it out because I got in a couple of episodes and I’m there.
Stevens hinted that his character in the show may be reminiscent of the characters we loved see him portray in the ring.
I don’t want to spoil anything but I’ll definitely be on there in the next few weeks. Look for me and I’ll give you a hint. I’m no angel and I definitely use my skills in the ring on the show and we will say that.
H/T to Ringside News for the quote.
What’s next?
Season 2 of Midnight, Texas is well and truly underway. You can watch the show on NBC.com or the NBC app - or find out more here.
