What's the story?

"The Lone Wolf" Baron Corbin spoke with The Sporting News in the promotion of the upcoming Greatest Royal Rumble on Friday. During the interview, they discussed how The Undertaker had helped Corbin ever since his days in NXT and how Corbin thinks Taker perceives him as a WWE Superstar today.

In case you didn't know...

Corbin has spent his entire professional wrestling career within the WWE. He signed a developmental deal in 2012 after three seasons in the NFL playing for the Colts and Cardinals.

The heart of the matter

During the interview, Corbin revealed that during his days at NXT, The Undertaker helped him out a lot. He would help Corbin with his entrance and how to move in the ring as a bigger man. Take a look at Corbin going into further detail below:

"It seems like he gravitates towards me because we kind of have that same mentality, we both walk on the edge of things. We both love boxing and MMA and we kind of style ourselves after that. We throw really nice punches and they do a lot of damage. I think he saw that when I was in NXT, a little bit of himself in me and the style I have, a big guy who can really move. So every time he's around, I always make sure to spend 15, 20 minutes talking to him about wrestling and my career."

Corbin said that he tried to soak up as much information as he can from Taker, who's been wrestling professionally since 1984.

Speaking on the subject of The Undertaker, Corbin also told Sporting News that he was quite jealous when he learned he wasn't the guy that was going to face Taker in the Casket Match at the Greatest Royal Rumble.

"I 100 percent was jealous (laughing). I sent a few text messages to people going "what the heck? How am I not in this match?" There was a huge moment of jealousy. I've always wanted to be in the ring with 'Taker. I got a little taste of him at the Royal Rumble a couple of years ago and he eliminated me. I owe him a good fight, that's for sure.

What's next?

Baron Corbin will be a part of the 50-man roster that will take part in the Greatest Royal Rumble Match in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia this Friday, April 27th. In addition to the Rumble match, Brock Lesnar will defend his WWE Universal Championship against Roman Reigns inside of a steel cage.

Author's take

I've been a fan of Baron Corbin's persona and work ever since his early days of The Lone Wolf in NXT. It felt unique and different, and it is great to see how far he has come. There is no doubt that he'll be a world champion someday.

It was very cool to see that Undertaker helped him out while he was in NXT. It's important to form those bonds with those who have nearly seen everything in the business.
