WWE News: Batista says he's been ''very vocal on wanting a return to WWE''
What’s the story?
Grplgme., an online wrestling clothes store, recently caught up with Batista and questioned him on a possible return to WWE.
In case you didn’t know...
Batista had planned on sticking around much longer than he did when he returned to WWE in 2014.
Batista returned to WWE in January 2014. The plan was apparently for him to return in the Royal Rumble match itself and get a surprise win. However, plans for his return and win leaked out to the internet in early January and WWE decided to have him return a week early, on RAW.
Batista returned during the height of Daniel Bryan's popularity and thus, fans booed Batista out of the building after he won the Royal Rumble match. Batista left WWE the following June after a short Evolution reunion, due to creative differences. He has since declined a WWE Hall of Fame induction and cameo appearance at WrestleMania 32 (instead of Mick Foley).
Since his departure, Batista has starred as 'Drax The Destroyer' in the Guardians of The Galaxy film series, which he has said people in WWE didn't want to promote it because they thought it would have been a failure. Batista has also had roles in James Bond' Spectre, Blade Runner 2049 and more.
The heart of the matter
Batista was recently asked by online wrestling clothing store grplgme if he would return to WWE to face John Cena at WrestleMania 34 in New Orleans. Batista said that probably won't happen but he has been very vocal on wanting to return to WWE as he feels his career is not over, and this is why he has turned down being inducted in the WWE Hall of Fame.
Batista also said a return hasn't happened yet due to a 'schedule issue and also a creative issue', and also said 'Never say never, I would love to go back'.
Batista has also said in past interviews in 2017 that if he were to return to WWE, he would return to a full-time schedule.
What’s next?
Batista will be appearing as his Guardians character Drax the Destroyer in a major crossover film with The Avengers in Avengers: Infinity War, scheduled to be released on April 23.
Batista will also be appearing in action films Final Score, Escape Plan 2 and Hotel Artemis later this year, starring next to a lot of huge Hollywood names like Sylvester Stallone, Pierce Brosnan, Jodie Foster, Jeff Goldblum, Zachary Quinto and more.
Author’s take
I would love to see Batista return to WWE one day. He is still in phenomenal physical condition and has a lot left to offer. Batista has been very busy with so many major movies that a WWE return in 2018 is highly unlikely, but maybe next year.
