What's the story?

We're counting down the days to WWE's Mixed Match Challenge, to be aired on Facebook Watch. It was recently announced that Kurt Angle had decided to pair the team of Sasha Banks and Finn Balor, as entrants in the tournament.

Bayley, Balor's good friend, went on Twitter to let it be known that she wasn't happy with this pairing. She mentioned that Kurt Angle had some 'splainin' to do.

In case you didn't know...

Only a few of the teams have been determined thus far. In addition to Banks and Balor, we know that Alexa Bliss will be teamed up with Braun Strowman, and The Bulgarian Brute, Rusev has been paired with his real-life wife, Lana.

We also know that Bobby Roode and Charlotte Flair will head into this tournament as a team. Each of these announcements set social media on fire.

The heart of the matter

During their run on NXT, then NXT Champion Finn Balor and former NXT Women's Champion, Bayley, were the best of friends. It comes as little surprise that she did not care for Sasha Banks being paired with Balor in the big tournament.

We wonder if this could be the beginning of a rift between Banks and Bayley, at least in storyline. Fans have wanted them to recreate the magic of their match at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn for a good while now.

What's next?

January 16th is when the Mixed Match Challenge commences on Facebook Watch, featuring the men and women of WWE. Until then, we're certain that we'll be privy to more pairing announcements with regard to the same.

As for Sasha and Bayley, we wonder if they will come to blows leading to the Women's Royal Rumble match, going forward.

Author's take

This is just good-natured ribbing from Bayley. That's all and nothing more.

The fact of the matter is that Bayley's just not connected with the WWE Universe, since she's made her way to the main roster, and therefore we do not blame Sasha Banks being chosen ahead of her.
