WWE News: Bayley wasn't supposed to challenge for the WWE Women's Championship Immediately
After a brilliant match at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn II against “The Empress of Tomorrow” Asuka for the NXT Women’s Championship, Bayley made her long-awaited debut on Monday Night RAW. After Sasha Banks, Becky Lynch, and Charlotte were transferred to the main roster, Bayley was the only one left to lead the NXT Women’s division.
Bayley already made her main roster PPV debut during WWE Battleground when she was revealed as Sasha Banks’ mystery tag-team partner against Dana Brooke and Charlotte. That, however, was mentioned as a one-off thing by JBL from the commentary team.
But, now Bayley is finally here, and here to stay. Bayley after coming out to a huge pop from the crowd showing just how over she is with the WWE fans went on to challenge Charlotte for the WWE Women’s Championship. However, Charlotte refused to give her the title shot and instead made her face Dana Brooke.
Bayley going after the WWE Women’s Championship is all well and good for the company, but it seems that Bayley has been given a much higher position on the card than intended.
According to NODQ.com, Bayley wasn’t supposed to be put in the main title picture after her arrival on the main roster. But, now that Sasha Banks is out of action, WWE are building a Baley vs. Charlotte feud for the WWE Women’s Title.
The company decided to go with Bayley because they don’t really have another top babyface on Monday Night RAW who can go against Charlotte.
Fortunately, as Sasha Banks doesn’t need to undergo a back surgery she’ll be out of action for just a month or two. Things would’ve been really bad if Banks would’ve needed to undergo surgery as that would’ve put her out of action for at least six months. And given Banks’ absence WWE have no choice, but to put Bayley on a higher spot. Bayley obviously will bring a certain freshness to the Women’s roster, and also a bit of levity to the much-needed show. Bayley obviously is an amazing wrestler, so the quality of matches won’t be a cause for concern. And, from a business standpoint, Bayley in the main roster gives the WWE a chance to cash-in on the t-shirts, ticket sales and everything else as Baley is the very popular with kids and parents.
What do you guys think? Will Bayley win the WWE Women’s Championship? Or will she lose?
