WWE News: Becky Lynch predicts the end of Asuka's streak
What's the story?
Becky Lynch opened up about the upcoming SmackDown Women's title match in an interview with Planeta Wrestling.
The first ever WWE SmackDown Women's Champion backed her good friend Charlotte to end Asuka's undefeated streak at WrestleMania while also revealing who she would like to form a tag team with from the current crop down at NXT.
In case you didn't know...
Asuka showed up at Fastlane after Charlotte's successful title defence over Ruby Riott to set up a dream match for the grandest stage of them all. Having two of the best in-ring performers in the women's division go toe-to-toe guarantees a show-stealer at New Orleans.
As for the Irish Lass kicker, she was on the losing end at Fastlane where she teamed up with Naomi in a match against the team of Carmella and Natalya and is currently directionless.
The heart of the matter
Lynch seemed confident about Charlotte ending the aura of the Empress of Tomorrow and stated that streaks are after all meant to be broken by citing the Undertaker's example.
"Yep, everything must come to an end, undefeated streaks and all. At one point, Charlotte had the longest winning streak on PPVs and she was defeated, everything can come to an end. Look at The Undertaker's."
Additionally, Lynch named Peyton Royce and Billie Kay as the current NXT rookies she would like to tag with.
What's next?
The popular SmackDown Superstar is currently without any solid angle on the road to Mania and could very well be added to the first-ever Women's Battle Royal.
It's a shame that a superstar as over as Lynch is being underutilized at this time of the year but her inclusion into the Women's Battle Royal could do wonders for the 'historic' match.
For what it's worth, the aforementioned duo of Royce and Kay could confront Becky Lynch on April 8th.
Author's take
Even though Charlotte is arguably the most heavily promoted female Superstar on the WWE roster, one can't help but feel that the company is building towards a blockbuster match between Ronda Rousey and the undefeated Asuka.
In fact, the Empress of Tomorrow is almost a lock to leave WrestleMania as the new SmackDown Live Women's Champion.
