What's the story?

Becky Lynch spoke to the Orlando Sentinel ahead of WrestleMania and described her journey into the history books.

In case you didn't know...

Becky Lynch won the 2019 women's Royal Rumble to initially earn a shot at Ronda Rousey at Mania. However, she was replaced in the match by order of Vince Mcmahon and later had to win her spot back at Elimination Chamber.

The heart of the matter

Becky Lynch will be in the main event of WrestleMania 35 this Sunday. She spoke to the Orlando Sentinel ahead of the Show of Shows and discussed a number of topics. Lynch spoke about how turning on Charlotte Flair helped start her journey to WrestleMania:

“It started when I slapped the head off Charlotte. If I didn’t do that, if it was just Charlotte and Ronda, it would have been the most boring WrestleMania main event in history, and maybe not even the main event. Can you imagine? It needed me. The match needed me.”

Becky Lynch also opened up about how she felt about headlining WrestleMania and what it meant to her:

“I just felt waves of gratitude and relief. We really did it. We got the main event. There were tears, lots of tears just streaming down my face. Everything I worked my entire life for was coming to fruition.”

Becky Lynch also talked about getting concussed on the RAW before Survivor Series and how that moment was crucial in her making it to WrestleMania:

“Looking back, if I don’t get concussed, I’m main eventing a different show, and we have to listen to Charlotte and Ronda whine all winter long, and I’m not in the main event of WrestleMania. So that’s the perfect ending.”

What's next?

Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey will make history this Sunday as they become the first women to headline the Grandest Stage of Them All.
