WWE News: Becky Lynch suspended for 60 days; new challenger for Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania

An apology couldn't save Becky Lynch from the wrath of Vince McMahon
An apology couldn't save Becky Lynch from the wrath of Vince McMahon

What's the story?

Becky Lynch's road to WrestleMania has been full of speed bumps, potholes, and with tonight's announcement, a major roadblock. Though she swallowed her pride in order to regain her opportunity at Ronda Rousey, it was all in vain.

In case you didn't know...

Becky Lynch won the Women's Royal Rumble match at this year's Royal Rumble PPV, last eliminating Charlotte to punch her ticket to WrestleMania. Lynch didn't take long to make up her mind, as she immediately challenged Ronda Rousey for the Raw Women's Championship.

However, it wouldn't be that easy for Lynch. An injury that took place during the Rumble match after an attack from Nia Jax forced Stephanie McMahon and Triple H to make a move. The duo simply wanted Lynch to go to a doctor and get cleared, fearing that she may make the injury worse if she ignored it for two more months. Lynch, however, felt they had ulterior motives.

After accusing Stephanie (on Raw) and Triple H (on SmackDown) of trying to impede her destiny, she wound up attacking Stephanie and slapping Triple H across the face. Her opportunity was nearly revoked, but they gave her a chance to redeem herself if she apologized to them in front of the WWE Universe on Monday Night Raw.

The heart of the matter

Becky Lynch looked for help in the matter backstage, even asking Finn Balor what he would do in this situation.

Eventually, Lynch decided to swallow her pride so she could live her dream. Lynch apologized to both Triple H and Stephanie McMahon but warned them that whoever got in her way would face her wrath. Triple H said he wouldn't have it any other way and shook her hand.

Ronda Rousey then came out to confront Lynch, but sadly, this wasn't the only surprise in store for the #1 contender.

Vince McMahon ran out to the stage to say that, though Triple H and Stephanie accepted her apology, he could not, and decided to suspend her for sixty days, which just so happens to end five days after WrestleMania. Therefore, Rousey needed a new challenger for the Raw Women's Championship. Enter: Charlotte Flair.

With Lynch suspended until after WrestleMania, Charlotte will now get the opportunity she believed belonged to her in the first place, another shot at Ronda Rousey on the Grandest Stage of Them All.

What's next?

With WrestleMania two months away, Becky Lynch will have to do whatever she can in order to get back into the main event of WrestleMania 35. She warned Triple H and Stephanie that whoever got in her way would have to answer to her, but does that also include Vince McMahon?
