What's the story?

John Cena making his return to WWE SmackDown Live in his attempt to find a path to WrestleMania was such a big deal that the decision was made to have it open the show. However, when the 'Free Agent' made his entrance an unfortunate mistake was made.

In case you didn't know...

John Cena opened the show on SmackDown and indicated that he was running out of options to go to WrestleMania after failing at the Elimination Chamber. Cena announced that he wanted in on the Fastlane WWE Title match and Daniel Bryan ruled that the Massachusetts native would have his wish if he defeated AJ Styles.

The heart of the matter

Despite the groundbreaking Fastlane and WrestleMania implications caused by John Cena's actions the thing that most people were talking about following Cena's opening segment was this graphic botch during Cena's entrance.

Unfortunately for the WWE, such an obvious visual mistake right off of the bat didn't go unnoticed amongst the WWE Universe watching SmackDown who were quick to point out the error on social media.

What's next?

John Cena, who hasn't joined the Bludgeon Brothers (yet), has now been added to the Fastlane main event making it a six-man WWE Title match with the other five competitors being Baron Corbin, Dolph Ziggler, Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn and AJ Styles.

The current direction still seems to be Styles Vs Nakamura at WrestleMania but there are niggling doubts that they'd decide not to go forward with this match and make some changes.

Author's take

I sincerely hope there's an angle at some point in the future where John Cena joins the Bludgeon Brothers now. Thanks, Kevin Dunn, for making me want something I didn't want before.
