Big Cass almost burned down his place!
Big Cass almost burned down his place!

What’s the story?

On a recent edition of WWE Story Time, Big Cass recounted a considerably scary experience he went through back when he was boarding with Dean Ambrose.

Cass had ordered a pizza and placed it in the oven to heat but happened to fall asleep with the oven on.

Cass then woke up a good three hours later only to find himself surrounded by smoke after which he navigated through the house by touching rather than seeing. He then made his way to the kitchen and turned off the oven, using a fire extinguisher to put out the fire.

In case you didn’t know…

Big Cass and Dean Ambrose were once roommates, sharing an apartment in Tampa, Florida.

At the time of the aforementioned incident that saw Cass nearly burn down the place, Ambrose was on the road with only the 7-footer in the apartment at the time.

The heart of the matter

Big Cass recalled the incident and his lucky escape explaining how he finally woke up, somehow got to the kitchen, took the pizza out of the oven and put out the fire with an extinguisher.

Furthermore, Cass elucidated that he attended Dusty Rhodes’ promo class the following day and sat next to Byron Saxton who probed him about the smell of pizza surrounding him. Cass continued:

“Everything in the apartment smelled like pizza for months—I’m talking clothes, furniture—everything! I was pretty nervous because I had just moved in with Dean Ambrose and he was on the road at the time, and now all of his clothes stink like pizza.”

“And I’m thinking (that) he’s gonna come home; he’s gonna be furious about this.”

What’s next?

Big Cass performs for the RAW brand and is presently on hiatus from the WWE owing to a knee injury. Atheletes usually require nine months of recovery from ACL tears, so it's safe to say that Cass has a long road ahead of him.

Author’s take

It’s great to hear stories from our favorite stars that paint them in a more human light. After all, in a business with unpredictable characters like professional wrestling, wild things are bound to happen.
