What’s the story?

In an interview with Sports Illustrated’s Extra Mustard section, Big Show opened up on a myriad of topics.

Expounding on the ongoing Kane versus Braun Strowman feud on RAW, Big Show insinuated that storylines/ feuds are often built up hastily which results in fans not connecting with the hastily built up feud. He added that although Kane and Strowman are having good matches, the audience have not been able to become fully invested in the feud.

Big Show said, “I think Kane is fantastic, but I don't think people were ready for the angle between Kane and Braun or their match. Technically, psychologically, mechanically, there is nothing wrong with the matches, but people don't like the story of the two opponents in the match. The crowd hasn't been able to get into it yet, but with social media and our business, criticism is going to be a lot more prevalent."

In case you didn’t know…

Kane and Braun Strowman have been feuding on RAW over the past few weeks, to the extent of even having a main-event match with each other on RAW in order to determine the number one contender for Brock Lesnar’s Universal Championship at the Royal Rumble.

However, the ongoing Kane versus Strowman feud has received largely negative fan-reaction due to the lack of a decent back-story or buildup of any sort.

The heart of the matter

Big Show elucidated that when stories are rushed or put together too fast, people cannot enjoy them. He alluded that those hastily built up storylines/feuds are the only criticism he has with the present-day pro-wrestling industry.

Furthermore, Big Show explained that the feud between him and Braun Strowman was the writing on the wall as the latter legitimately looks like his replacement for the next dominant giant in WWE.

What’s next?

Big Show is presently recuperating from a few injuries. He has revealed his intentions of hanging up the wrestling boots very soon.

Meanwhile, Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman will be the next episode of RAW in order to address the number one contender status for the Beast’s universal title and the ongoing Kane versus Strowman feud.

Author’s take

It’s hard to disagree with Big Show as Kane versus Strowman feud does seem a bit hastily put together. Regardless, it’s still awesome to see two larger than life characters go at it inside the squared circle. Kane and Strowman’s feud may transform into something bigger if booked correctly. Only time will tell how well it turns out ahead of the Royal Rumble and the Road To Wrestlemania.
