What’s the story?

On a recent edition of Busted Open Radio, Big Show opened up on a myriad of topics.

Apparently, Big Show experienced a few serious complications after his recent hip surgery. Besides, the 'World’s Largest Athlete' also revealed his WWE comeback timeline.

In case you didn’t know…

Big Show has competed in the sport of professional wrestling since 1995; working for WCW and then the WWE—widely respected for his contributions to the business over the years.

Big Show was written off the WWE’s storylines after being attacked by Braun Strowman in a Steel Cage Match on the September 4th episode of Monday Night RAW, which allowed the WWE veteran to undergo hip surgery so as to correct his nagging injury.

The heart of the matter

Big Show explained that he underwent hip resurfacing surgery in September of last year, and seemed to be recovering well for about 3-and-a-half weeks; following which he was down with a fever. The doctors then revealed that he was indeed suffering from a surgical infection; owing to which he had to go under the knife once again, so as to take the metal implants out, clean them, flush them and then go forward with the treatment.

Additionally, Big Show elucidated that he was then given a PICC line—an IV bag from his left arm to his heart—something that had to be administered to him for 7 weeks, three times a day for 8-hour shifts. Big Show continued that it was a very stressful situation, as he couldn’t go to the gym, get his blood pressure up or do anything of the sort. He added that they got out the PICC line on January 2nd. He has dropped 27 pounds since then and is hoping for the best over the next 6-8 months that are paramount to his recovery.

Furthermore, Big Show alluded that he’d like to assume a backstage advisory role in the WWE going forward; helping teach younger talent ring etiquette and how to think of themselves as a brand. He emphasized that this is the best time of his career as he has no pressure on him and could just go out and have fun with the fans. He stated—

"A lot of times talent gets wrapped up in the 'me me me' instead of 'we we we'. There is no I in team, (and) WWE is a team. Out of the billions of people on this planet, the 75-80 men and women on the roster have the opportunity to call themselves WWE superstars, (and) that's a very small percentage of people—they are in a position to be thankful—thankful that they have the opportunity to be a WWE star, thankful to be working with people who you've grown up to idolize.”

What’s next?

Big Show has confirmed that the next 6-8 months will play a vital role in determining whether or not he can make an in-ring comeback to the WWE.

Regardless, fans can expect Big Show to be involved in some capacity or the other in the WWE.
