WWE News: Blockbuster Rey Mysterio match announced for SmackDown this week
What's the story?
Rey Mysterio has a major United States Championship match waiting for him at WrestleMania 35, as he takes on reigning champion Samoa Joe.
However, before that, he has one last stop on the road to WrestleMania, and he has to take on an opponent who he's all too familiar with...
In case you didn't know...
Rey Mysterio's WWE return in 2018 has been met with quite some success. He's mostly been feuding with Andrade 'Cien' Almas, now just known as Andrade.
He's beaten the young upstart, been beaten by him, and their feud itself never concluded, with many expecting them to face off at the show of shows in a "passing of the torch" match.
However, Rey Mysterio later announced that he would be challenging Joe for the United States Championship. It's the first WrestleMania that Mysterio will be a part of in quite a few years.
The heart of the matter
Before he takes on The Samoan Submission Machine at the grandest stage of them all, Rey Mysterio has to revisit his rivalry with Andrade, as he takes on the young upstart. Andrade will be a part of the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal this Sunday at WrestleMania 35.
While that may not be an ideal spot for him, the positive of it is that he's still young, has a lot of potential and a lot of promise. You can fully expect him to be pushed more after WrestleMania. At the moment, there really isn't much space to fit him or any other match on the card.
There's no doubt that the match on SmackDown will be epic. However, it also wouldn't be surprising to see it end in a rather messy finish.
