WWE News: Bludgeon Brothers squash the Hype Bros on their SmackDown debut

Let's be honest, the Bludgeon Brothers were always going to demolish the Hype Bros
Let's be honest, the Bludgeon Brothers were always going to demolish the Hype Bros

What's the story?

The wait is over, Luke Harper and Erick Rowan have finally debuted on SmackDown LIVE after several weeks of murky vignettes, however, two people who wouldn't have enjoyed the much-anticipated debut are Zack Ryder and Mojo Rawley who were literally squashed by the debuting tag-team.

In case you didn't know...

Mojo Rawley and Zack Ryder, otherwise known as the Hype Bros, foolishly challenged The Bludgeon Brothers on their SmackDown debut in an attempt to get out of a rut that the tag-team have been in for quite some time, with the pair losing several matches.

Quite why they chose Luke Harper and Erick Rowan, two former members of the Wyatt family and two formidable singles competitors for a short time, to try and get on track with is beyond me.

The heart of the matter

The Bludgeon Brother's entrance to the ring was almost as long as the match, with the pair making their way down carrying the hammers they've been seen within their vignettes, removing their coats and mask and leaving them ringside.

Harper then wasted no time in removing Ryder from the match be launching him into the steel steps. This then allowed Erick Rowan and Luke Harper to manhandle Mojo Rawley and hit him with a weird, improvised double power-bomb thing.

What's next?

It has been a popular belief of late that the Bludgeon Brothers will be revealed as the pair behind the attack on The Fashion Police in their Fashion Files segments, however, their gimmick seems wholly too dark and mysterious to be dragged into the comedy segment, so who knows.

Author's take

This was a good debut for The Bludgeon Brothers, their characters felt fresh and exciting, their entrance theme music is suitably dark and brooding and their in-ring work was as dominant as it should be, with a cool spot where Harper slapped Rowan really hard to psyche him up. I'm on board so far!
