WWE News: Bobby Roode reveals his dream WrestleMania opponent
What’s the story?
In a recent interview with WWE Fan France, current WWE United States Champion and SmackDown Live’s Bobby Roode revealed the superstar against whom he would like to defend the WWE US Title against at Wrestlemania. Roode was also asked about what he wants to accomplish the most in the wrestling business.
In case you didn’t know…
In a triple threat match at last year’s Clash of Champion pay-per-view, Dolph Ziggler won the United States Championship after defeating ‘The Lone Wolf’ Baron Corbin and ‘The Glorious One’ Bobby Roode. However, Ziggler would go on to vacate the US Title on the very next episode of SmackDown Live as he stated that the WWE Universe did not deserve ‘The Showoff’.
Following Ziggler’s ‘departure’, WWE decided to host a United States Championship Tournament for the vacated title which was eventually won by Bobby Roode after ‘The Glorious One’ defeated Jinder Mahal in the finale and won his first championship on the main roster.
The heart of the matter
While speaking with WWE Fan France, Roode stated that he is excited about the fact that he is finally a champion on the main roster and recalled his NXT Championship win last year, after he defeated Shinsuke Nakamura.
Roode said that even as the current US Champion he knows for a fact that he will not be handed a match at Wrestlemania and instead has to earn his spot on the match card at New Orleans later this year. The Glorious One was also asked whom he would like to defend his US Title against at Wrestlemania, to which he responded by saying that he wishes to share the ring with 16-time World Champion John Cena, at the Grandest Stage of Them All.
Additionally, Roode also noted that he has been in the wrestling business for almost twenty years, but he has only been in the WWE for two, so his current goal is to stay healthy and continue to do great things inside the squared circle.
What’s next?
As for Bobby Roode, he will definitely look to prove himself as a fighting US Champion, however, Roode’s next goal will be the upcoming Royal Rumble pay-per-view which takes place at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia this Sunday.
Author’s Take
A match between Bobby Roode and John Cena has been a dream match for several WWE fans around the globe and I certainly hope that we get to see the two superstars square off against each other at WrestleMania 34.
