WWE News: Braun Strowman opens up about his time in the Wyatt Family

Strowman following the buzzards

What's the story?

Braun Strowman is one of the most popular WWE Superstars on the current Raw roster. His theme music drives an arena to a frenzy because people want to see Braun Smash! But when he first started, Strowman was a black sheep mask-wearing member of the Wyatt Family, he was still huge but he was more of a silent, yet an incredibly visible threat.

Braun Strowman spoke to Pro Wrestling Illustrated in their February 2018 edition where he gave a pretty lengthy and open interview and discussed where he'd be without the Wyatt Family.

In case you didn't know...

WWE loves big men and sometimes they push them way too far way too fast. There are countless examples of this logic from Nathan Jones to The Giant Gonzolas and the list goes on.

But one of the best ways to make someone better it to surround someone with outstanding talent and that is exactly what WWE did when placing Braun Strowman in the Wyatt Family.

The heart of the matter

After Braun Strowman was drafted to Raw and started a singles run of destruction, the fans have strapped a rocket to his back. While WWE creative might have been taken aback by how wildly successful Braun Strowman's character was at first, they're slowing figuring him out.

He's a monster and apparently immortal so you can crush him, chop him up, and smash his windpipe and he'll be fine the next week.

When Pro Wrestling Illustrated sat down with Strowman they asked him a lot of questions in their hour-long interview. But one interesting subject breached concerned his affiliation with the Wyatt Family.

The Monster Among Men said he would never say the Wyatt Family ever held him back. He credited being a member of Bray Wyatt's family for getting him to where he is today and opened up about how little experience he actually had in the ring before he started following the buzzards.

"When I debuted, that was the eighth time I had ever been in front of people. And, like you said, the people criticized me when I first debuted. But what did they expect? It was the eighth time I'd ever wrestled. It was a 'let's see what's going to happen' think. It's all trial and error. That's the thing I said about learning in this business. Every time you go out, it's an opportunity to learn something new. Every time I go out and work I try to figure something else out to make my game better. If my work now compared to where I was doesn't attest to my work ethic, I don't know what does."

What's next?

Braun Strowman will continue his path into pro wrestling's history books. As he continues to learn he only gets better. If you watch a match of his when he first came up, compared to one he had a week ago, it's really not the same performer.

He's always learning and his work ethic is insane. Hopefully, Braun Strowman will continue to be a WWE tentpole for years to come.

Author's take

I find it interesting how both Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman are both on the same show but they've never brushed up against each other yet.

This could possibly be something WWE might consider for a WrestleMania match if they can't figure out anything else for Braun Strowman.
