WWE News: Braun Strowman stood tall after Raw went off the air
What's the story?
There was no dark main event after WWE Raw went off the air in Cleveland. Instead, Braun Strowman stood tall while Kane was helped to the back by the officials. Even though he was selling the after-effects of a table bump, the veteran didn't appear to be nursing an injury.
In case you didn't know...
During the WWE TLC 2017 main event, Cesaro, Sheamus, The Miz, and Kane — the primary instigator — turned on Braun Strowman, throwing the North Carolina native into the back of a garbage truck.
Strowman and Kane started their feud after Survivor Series, where the Monster Among Men represented Raw in the men's elimination match and emerged victorious. The pair have also been having matches at Live Events, which have typically ended in disqualification victories for Strowman.
The heart of the matter
On the December 11, 2017, episode of Monday Night Raw, Braun Strowman and Kane were pitted in a match to determine the number one contender for Brock Lesnar's Universal Championship at the Royal Rumble.
Even though the contest ended in a double count-out, Strowman sent his more-experienced adversary through a table with a running powerslam. He then proceeded to pose after Raw went off the air. Here is a video from the main event of Raw:
What's next?
Dave Meltzer recently reported that Brock Lesnar might not defend the Universal Championship at the Royal Rumble. However, now that a match for Raw's top prize has been teased for the January extravaganza, there is a good possibility that Strowman will get another opportunity to dethrone the Beast Incarnate.
Author's take
Braun Strowman is a charismatic Superstar who has captured the imagination of the WWE fans, but neither he nor Roman Reigns are the right person to win the Universal Championship from Brock Lesnar. That honour must go to a Superstar who truly has the ability to elevate WWE as a whole.
