WWE News: Bray Wyatt on a possible Wyatt Family reunion
What’s the story?
During WrestleMania weekend, Bray Wyatt spoke to Sam Roberts, on the ‘Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast’, about a number of topics, including a potential Wyatt Family reunion.
The Background
With Bray recently moving to Raw as part of the ‘Superstar Shake-up’, he has left his original disciples, Luke Harper and Erick Rowan, to fend for themselves on Smackdown Live. Therefore an imminent Wyatt Family reunion seems unlikely.
However, The Wyatt Family have been on and off as a unit since their arrival on the main roster in 2013. Whether it’s been down to creative reasons or due to injury, Bray and his followers have disbanded and reformed on multiple occasions in the last four years and the ‘Eater of Worlds’ expects this to continue for as long as they are all in WWE.
The heart of the matter
Speaking on the ‘Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast’, Bray wished his ‘Family’ members luck in their singles careers but did predict that they will reform when the time is right. Transcript courtesy WrestlingINC:
“It’s going to be in-and-out forever. I think we are owed our own singles successes and I wish the best for Harper and them. I hope they do great, but I’m always here and we’re always brothers. No one ever stopped being brothers.”
Wyatt also pointed out that Braun Strowman is an often forgotten former disciple too and he expects to have a reunion with the ‘Monster Among Men’ one day in the future also.
“That’s the thing. No one ever asks me about Braun [Strowman]. Oh, will Braun ever be back? Of course he will. They always come back. I taught him how to tie his shoes and I taught him how to fly and he won’t forget that.”
What’s next?
As I said, I don’t expect a Wyatt Family reunion to take place anytime soon. Braun is a star in his own right at the moment and looks set for a main event push in the near future. As for Harper and Rowan, they are both on Smackdown Live and, without Bray, any formation that they could possibly have will not be the same without their leader.
But with that being said, The Wyatt Family, particularly the original three members, will always be associated with one another so I fully expect some sort of reformation to take place at some point down the line.
Author’s Take
With the exception of Braun Strowman, none of the former Wyatt Family members feel like legitimate stars in the current climate. Obviously, Bray has been pushed recently and had a WWE World Title reign, but the booking of his character lately has hurt his credibility. The ridiculous ‘House of Horrors’ match at Payback certainly didn’t do him any favours.
To make a Wyatt Family reunion feel special, Harper and Rowan need to establish themselves as credible singles superstars on Smackdown Live, while Bray needs to get some big victories against top Raw stars to take him to the next level. Then and only then will Bray Wyatt truly be the ‘New Face of Fear’.
