WWE News: Bray Wyatt recalls the time he attended jury duty in character

Wyatt is the son of veteran wrestler IRS

What’s the story?

In the book, NXT The Future Is Now, WWE superstar Bray Wyatt has revealed that it was the legendary Dusty Rhodes who helped him develop his ‘Eater of The Worlds’ gimmick. Moreover, he has stated that on the American Dream’s insistence, he once attended jury duty in character.

The background

In 2010, Wyatt – who is the son of veteran professional wrestler IRS – participated in the second season of NXT under the ring name Husky Harris. Thereafter, he appeared on RAW as part of the heel faction, Nexus. However, he could not make much of an impact and was soon written off TV after a receiving a punt from Randy Orton.

A few years later, he appeared on Raw as the leader of the Wyatt Family and created a buzz amongst fans. Since then, he has established himself as a force to be reckoned with and locked horns with the likes of The Undertaker, John Cena and Kane to name a few.

The heart of the matter

In the book NXT The Future Is Now, Wyatt has opened up about how Rhodes played a big role in helping him add new life to his character. Moreover, he has highlighted that the WWE Hall Of Famer once made him attend jury duty as ‘The Eater of Worlds’  because he felt that it would help him ‘became Bray’.

“I literally went to jury duty as Bray Wyatt. I was so immersed in the character that I didn’t break once,” he’s written.

Besides this, he has stated that the second he became Bray Wyatt, Husky Harris became a thing of the past.

What’s next?

At Payback, Wyatt defeated The Viper in a house of Horrors match and brought that chapter to a close. At present, he is gearing up for the Extreme Rules PPV where he’ll be taking part in a fatal 5-way Extreme Rules match to determine the new number one contender for the Universal Title.

Besides Wyatt, the match will also feature Finn Balor, Roman Reigns, Samoa Joe and Seth Rollins.

Author’s take

As fans, we should be grateful to Rhodes for encouraging Wyatt to develop this superb gimmick. It truly is one of the best things on WWE TV these days. We sincerely hope that he keeps up the good work and continues finding success.
