Lesnar is edging closer and closer to ending his current WWE contract.

What's the story?

This Friday, when Brock Lesnar defends his RAW Universal Championship against Kane and Braun Strowman in a Triple Threat match at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts, it will be the last WWE live event date of his present WWE contract.

Lesnar is nearing the end of his contract, and this is a further deadline which will likely worry WWE.

In case you didn't know...

The Beast Incarnate, accompanied by his Advocate, Paul Heyman, will be defending his WWE RAW Universal Championship against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 34 in New Orleans.

However, Lesnar's contract with the WWE runs out in April, with WrestleMania 34 possibly being the last TV date of his current deal.

Lesnar has been teasing that he will not sign a new contract with the WWE to instead rejoin the UFC (where he was a Heavyweight Champion and box-office draw), taking a picture with UFC President Dana White in February (which was a kick in WWE's gut, especially as they had their Elimination Chamber PPV that night in Las Vegas, where Lesnar was when he took the picture).

The heart of the matter

As we know, with his part-time schedule, Brock Lesnar only works a certain amount of TV/PPV dates, and the same applies to the number of Live Events he works.

Lesnar is set to appear on this week's RAW and next week's RAW to continue to build-up to his WrestleMania 34 bout with Reigns.

And then, WrestleMania 34 is seemingly his last WWE on-screen appearance if he does not pin down a new contract.

But the live event at the TD Garden is the last live event of this contract.

What's next?

This live event will occur on Friday, with Lesnar taking on the same two guys he went up against for his title at the Royal Rumble in January, Kane and Braun Strowman.

Whether or not this is the last-ever time we see Brock Lesnar compete at a WWE live event is unknown, but with no news of him signing on again with WWE, it is starting to look entirely possible that we won't see Brock Lesnar in the company beyond WrestleMania 34.

Author's take

If you are Vince McMahon, Triple H or Stephanie McMahon right now, this situation is becoming increasingly nerve-wracking, with their company's biggest star potentially heading out the door.

This landmark of Lesnar's possible last WWE live event really hits home the message that time is almost up.

Can WWE get Lesnar to stay?
