WWE News: Bryan Alvarez rips Sheamus for being unsafe in the ring

Sheamus and Cesaro took on the Hardy Boyz at WWE Payback...

What’s the story?

At WWE Payback last weekend, Jeff Hardy lost a tooth after Sheamus delivered a kick to him in the corner. Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer is not holding back when it comes to commenting on the situation. He has gone as far as to say that the WWE should fire Sheamus over the incident.

In case you didn’t know...

Alvarez blames Sheamus for ending the career of Daniel Bryan as well. As Bryan was laying on the ground, Sheamus would deliver a kick to his head “as hard as he f***ing could”, according to Alvarez, resulting in a concussion.

The heart of the matter...

Alvarez admits that accidents happen in the ring and nobody is at fault as it is an accident. He’s not giving Sheamus a pass here because Hardy was not a moving target.

He brings up the recent incident when Jinder Mahal gave Finn Balor a concussion when he hit a brutal forearm. Since Balor was moving at full speed, Alvarez didn’t place the blame on Jinder or Balor.

Regarding the firing of Sheamus, Alvarez would say:

“you f***ing suck at your job. I would never wrestle you in a thousand years for no amount of money. I have no respect for him as a worker. I would not hire him and quite frankly, if it were my company then I’d fire him.”

What’s next?

After losing to the Hardy Boyz at WWE Payback, Sheamus and Cesaro turned heel and attacked the brothers after the match. These actions continued the feud and could lead to the debut of the broken characters for the Hardy’s in the coming weeks.

Author’s take...

I am not sure if Alvarez has some sort of vendetta against Sheamus because I don’t recall him calling for the WWE to fire AJ Styles when he knocked the Miz’s tooth out last year. Miz was standing perfectly still in that situation as well. Pro wrestling is physical and these things happen.

One thing is for sure, the WWE should not fire Sheamus for this incident. There have been far worse things to happen in the ring that resulted in less outrage.
