WWE News: Carmella discusses if she likes being paired with someone or working alone
What's the story?
"Miss Money In The Bank" Carmella was recently interviewed by Rolling Stone to help promote the Mixed Match Challenge that kicked off this week. While they talked about the Mixed Match Challenge and Total Divas, they also talked about her preferences having a manager or being paired up with someone.
In case you didn't know...
Before pursuing a career in the WWE, Carmella was a cheerleader for the New England Patriots as well as a Laker Girl for the NBA franchise. She did not have any prior wrestling experience before signing a contract with the WWE in 2013 and reporting to NXT for developmental training.
The heart of the matter
Within the interview with Rolling Stone, Carmella was asked if she is excited to be paired up with someone again or if she feels more comfortable alone (now that she's been on her own for a few months)?
Take a look at Carmella's response below (thanks to Wrestling Inc. for the transcript of the interview):
"I like doing my own thing and I like being partnered with somebody. Anytime you're partnered with a guy in wrestling, it's exciting and different. Having James Ellsworth by my side for a while, that got people talking. Being a manager for Enzo and Cass in NXT was great. I got a lot of experience with doing that. And now this is something different as well, so I'm excited to be a part of it."
Carmella was with Enzo and Cass in NXT since her debut until they were called up to the main roster after WrestleMania 32 in 2016. Carmella would make her own main roster debut when she was drafted to SmackDown in the WWE Draft a few months later in July of 2016.
It was December 2016 when the partnership between her and James Ellsworth would begin, and that would last until his release this past November.
What's next?
Carmella's first-round match in the WWE Mixed Match Challenge will take place next week when Big E and Miss Money In The Bank take on the team of Asuka and The Miz.
Author's take
For having just a few years of wrestling experience, Carmella has excelled. Though I loved the partnership of her and Ellsworth, she can more than hold her own in the WWE by herself.
There's a clear reason why they put the first-ever women's Money In The Bank briefcase on her, and I don't think the first cash-in for the history of the women is going to be a failure. You're looking at a WWE SmackDown Women's Champion, in the very near future
