WWE News: Charlotte Flair comments on moving to SmackDown LIVE and reuniting with Becky Lynch
What’s the story?
Four-time RAW Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair recently appeared for an interview with Sporting News. The major talking point of the interview was Charlotte discussing her move to SmackDown LIVE. The Queen spoke about how she felt when she was drafted to the blue brand and reunited with fellow Horsewoman, Becky Lynch.
In case you didn’t know...
Charlotte Flair was drafted to Smackdown LIVE during the Superstar shakeup. Her addition to the roster has given the SmackDown women’s division all the legitimacy it needed. ‘The Queen’ had been in the women’s main event picture on RAW for over a year and became the number one contender for the Smackdown Women’s Championship, this past Tuesday.
The heart of the matter
During the interview, Charlotte claimed that she had done it all on Monday Night RAW, and moved to SmackDown to establish herself at the top in a different setting. Charlotte confessed that there was pressure to prove herself and to adjust her character to the fit the requirements of team blue.
Speaking of the competition, Charlotte acknowledged the fact that the two brands were competing against each other. She said that the entire point of having two separate rosters was to encourage healthy competition.
She told Sporting News that her loyalties were now aligned with the blue brand and added that she wanted to inspire the best out of the SmackDown women’s roster. Charlotte also mentioned that she was glad to have Becky and Natalya by her side again.
She recalled the amazing match between her and Becky at the 2016 Royal Rumble and said that they could now put on some more matches that would overshadow that glorious encounter.
What’s next?
Charlotte became the number one contender for the Smackdown Women’s title after she pinned current champion, Naomi with the Natural Selection this past Tuesday at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville. The two will face off on SmackDown next week.
Author's Take
Charlotte was perhaps the biggest gain for the blue brand during the Superstar shakeup. Her friendship with Natalya and Becky is well-documented and she has put on some spectacular matches with the two women at NXT as well as on the main roster.
The Queen of pay-per-view has her sights set on becoming a five-time Women’s Champion, and it would be interesting to see how her rivalry with Naomi shapes up.
