What’s the story?

Charlotte Flair recently penned a touching letter to her father Ric Flair on The Players Tribune.

In the aforementioned letter, Charlotte opened up on a myriad of topics; primarily explaining how much her father Ric means to her; besides also expressing her love for the business.

In case you didn’t know…

Ric Flair is widely regarded as one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time.

Speaking of which, his daughter Charlotte Flair has been competing in the WWE since 2012, and has become the first Superstar to have won the following 4 major WWE titles namely the Divas Championship, the NXT Women’s title, as well as the Women’s Championships on RAW and SmackDown.

The heart of the matter

Charlotte Flair started off by highlighting a lesson which Ric taught her; stating that when a performer walks out through the curtains, the first impression that the audience has of him/her is final.

She also spoke about how nervous she used to get, particularly early on, owing to the hordes of people judging her for who she is.

Furthermore, Charlotte also elucidated that many people tried to discourage her that she won’t make it too far in the industry or have it easy just because she’s Ric’s daughter. However, the Queen credited her father for helping her get through testing times. Here are a few excerpts from Charlotte’s letter to Ric:

“One of the most decorated superstars in the history of sports entertainment. It was an impossible expectation to live up to. In that moment, I actually feared that I wasn’t made for WWE. Quitting wasn’t an option … but how was I going to commit 100 percent when I was afraid of my own shadow?”

“I was nervous about the fans in the crowd. I was nervous about the Superstars in the back. But most of all, I was nervous about one very specific thought.

I couldn’t bear the thought of disappointing you."

Besides, Charlotte also emphasized that it was Ric who helped her deal with the boos and negative fan-reaction initially. The SmackDown Women’s Champion also added that she’s barely scratched the surface of what she can achieve, and her love for her father is as high as the sky.

What’s next?

The blue brand’s reigning Women’s Champ Charlotte Flair competes against RAW Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss at WWE’s upcoming Survivor Series PPV on November 19th.

Author’s take

Charlotte Flair truly is one of a kind, and it’d be safe to assume that she’s done more than just make Ric proud.

In fact, when it’s all said and done, Charlotte may go down as one of the all-time greats…Again just like the Stylin', profilin', limousine riding, jet flying, kiss-stealing, wheelin' n' dealin' son of a gun!"
