WWE News: Charlotte Flair says she doesn't take her success in the WWE for granted

The Queen has come a long way in the WWE

What’s the story?

In a recent interview with The Independent, WWE Superstar Charlotte Flair spoke about how she doesn’t let her meteoric rise and success go to her head.

In case you didn’t know...

Charlotte Flair (Ashley Fliehr) is the daughter of WWE Hall-of-Famer Ric Flair and has competed in the NXT brand from 2012-15 before making her main-roster debut in July of 2015. The 31-year old is a former Divas and NXT Women’s champion and is a 4-time RAW Women’s champion.

The heart of the matter

Following the Superstar Shake-Up that saw her being drafted from Monday Night RAW to SmackDown Live, Charlotte has risen to the top in the blue brand as well, challenging Naomi for the SmackDown Women’s title this past Tuesday night.

The Queen spoke about the difference between performing for the two aforementioned brands besides revealing how she feels one ought to handle success. Here are a few excerpts from her statements-

“You don’t want to get complacent and just accept things just because we’ve had those moments and we have come so far, you don’t want to ever take that for granted because the moment you do, it can all go away. It takes us (the female performers of WWE) collectively all staying on our toes and working as hard as we can to continue getting those opportunities, and for me it adds an element of pressure if you’re the main event or if we are headlining a pay-per-view.”

She added that although she does, in fact, feel pressure, at the end of the day it’s all good. Charlotte opined that the current crop of female up-and-comers on the NXT brand ought to exercise a bit of patience when it comes to their eventual promotion to the WWE’s main shows, stating that it’s a whole different ballgame when you perform on RAW or SmackDown.

Flair asserted that although she had great ring chemistry with RAW Superstars Bayley and Sasha Banks, she’s excited about her transition to SmackDown and is looking forward to competing with the best that the blue brand has to offer.

What’s next?

Charlotte Flair is presently signed to WWE’s SmackDown brand and recently competed in a title matchup against SmackDown Women’s champion Naomi. The match ended via outside interference when Natalya, Tamina and Carmella attacked Naomi and Charlotte. Fans can expect the Queen to be booked strongly by the WWE in the weeks to come.

Author’s take

Charlotte Flair is a great example for young, aspiring pro wrestlers out there, particularly in regards to her professionalism and grounded behaviour.

All Hail Queen Charlotte!
