WWE News: Charlotte Flair wins fatal four-way to become #1 contender for SmackDown Women's Title
What's the story?
Charlotte Flair has been through a lot in the last six weeks but she returned to SmackDown Live this week in order to thank the WWE Universe.
Her father Ric Flair had just overcome a serious illness but he's on his way back to recovery. What Charlotte didn't expect was to leave SmackDown Live with a date for Hell In A Cell.
In case you didn't know...
Charlotte Flair is the second-generation daughter of Ric Flair. The Nature Boy has been dealing with some serious health issues recently and there was a time before SummerSlam when we were all very worried about him.
Charlotte Flair made her return to SmackDown Live and had a message for the fans. But what happened next was a little unexpected.
The heart of the matter
In the middle of Charlotte's promo where she thanked the fans for their support, Natalya came down to show off a picture of herself holding her title.
It didn't take long for the ring to fill up with Becky Lynch, Naomi, and Tamina to join Charlotte in saying they wanted to challenge The Queen Of Harts for her title.
Daniel Bryan came out next and booked a fatal four-way match to close the show between Charlotte, Becky Lynch, Tamina, and Naomi.
After a fierce contest, Charlotte ended up scoring a pinfall over Tamina thanks to a kick to the head. The end was really botchy as the kick didn't connect properly coupled with some awkward selling on Tamina's part.
What's next?
Charlotte and Nattie are no strangers in the ring. They both credit each other for bringing out the best in their performances.
Their NXT TakeOver match was an outstanding display of wrestling ability, which some people credit for really jump-starting the WWE Women's Revolution (sorry, Emma).
Author's take
Hell In A Cell just got an amazing match. If given the time these two women could bring something very special to The Little Ceasers Arena in Detroit Michigan.
