What's the story?

AEW Superstar Chris Jericho recently talked with Inside The Ropes, and revealed the original plans for his match at WrestleMania 19.

Jericho also shared his take on who's the best wrestler of all time, stating that Shawn Michaels is the greatest performer in the history of the business.

In case you didn't know. . .

Chris Jericho recently made waves after signing with All Elite Wrestling in what he deemed as being "the best deal of his career". He is set to appear on AEW's first show, "Double Or Nothing", on May 25th at the MGM Grand.

The Canadian Superstar wrestled Shawn Michaels in arguably the best match of the night at WrestleMania 19 in Safeco Field. The match was dubbed as being a battle pitting "Teacher and Student" against each other, with Jericho growing up idolizing Michaels.

The heart of the matter

Jericho named Michaels as his pick for the best wrestler of all time.

Shawn Michaels is better than 75% of the roster...in my opinion, the best ever. It's not Ric Flair, it's not Bret, it's Shawn Michaels for me.

The former Undisputed WWE Champion also revealed that he was slated to have a match with Edge at the show, but the plans were scrapped after his promo with Shawn Michaels on an episode of Raw.

It was just a one-shot thing where I was doing a Highlight Reel and I was calling Michaels old, and that sort of thing. I was just demeaning Shawn on the Highlight Reel, he superkicked me in the face and that was supposed to be the end of it. We walked to the back and I remember Vince sitting there, smiling, and just looking at Shawn, and Shawn goes, 'It's money.' And Vince goes, 'You're damn right it's money!' And that was where that whole angle started - it was supposed to be me and Edge that year, originally.

What's next?

Jericho's fans have a reason to rejoice as they would be seeing him on their TV screens for a long time to come, courtesy his lucrative AEW contract. Although nearing his 50s, Jericho still has a lot left in the tank and would be a treat to watch in AEW, both in the ring as well as on the microphone.
