WWE News: Chris Jericho return update
What’s the story?
The WWE is promoting both Chris Jericho and Hideo Itami for their live events (house shows) on June 30th and July 1st in Tokyo, Japan.
In case you didn't know...
Jericho is on tour with Fozzy throughout the United States during the month of May in support of their new single “Judas”. They also have three dates scheduled throughout June in the United Kingdom. There are no further dates planned after a return to the states on June 24th where they will play a show in Seattle, Washington.
The heart of the matter...
Jericho has done WWE Live events while on tour with Fozzy in the past, so it is not a guarantee that he’ll return to television around those dates. There is a chance that he could return at Money In The Bank on June 19th for a quick appearance to screw over Kevin Owens if he’s in the ladder match.
The current iteration of Jericho has been one of his most popular; which means there is a good chance this hiatus will not last as long as his others. If he doesn’t return at Money In The Bank, expect the WWE legend to come back on or just after Battleground on July 23rd.
What’s next?
Fozzy’s tour of the United States continues on through this weekend in Wisconsin and Pennsylvania. Their “Judas” single is the theme for NXT Takeover: Chicago on May 20th; however, don’t expect a surprise live performance on the show. Fozzy has a gig in Virginia that night and West Virginia the night after.
Author’s take...
It is always a big deal when the WWE comes to Tokyo. There is a bigger buzz lately with Japanese stars such as Hideo Itami and Shinsuke Nakamura on the roster including the former members of the Bullet Club.
Because of the importance surrounding these shows, I think it is great that Jericho is able to take part in them. It is not only a treat for the Japanese fans, but I’m sure it is a treat for Jericho himself to wrestle in Japan once again.
