WWE News: Chris Jericho reveals epic Wrestlemania idea
What’s the story?
On a recent edition of Busted Open Radio, Chris Jericho revealed that he put forth an idea for Wrestlemania 30 which would’ve seen him take on Bray Wyatt in a match with Shawn Michaels in the former’s corner and the Wyatt Family in Bray’s corner.
Additionally, Y2J stated that, in hindsight, it was the poor timing of his pitch that led to the aforementioned matchup not coming to fruition.
In case you didn’t know…
Chris Jericho is well-known for the vast amount of creative inputs he offers backstage in the WWE.
On that note, Vince McMahon, to date, handles the vast majority of WWE Creative storylines and segments; in other words, a storyline or high-profile match requires Vince’s stamp of approval to take place in the WWE.
The heart of the matter
Chris Jericho reminisced about the idea which he came up with for 2014’s edition of WrestleMania that included him with HBK in his corner against Bray Wyatt who’d be cornered by his Wyatt Family brethren. Here’s Y2J’s account of why the scenario didn’t see the light of day inside the squared circle:
“When I went to pitch it to Vince, I read the room wrong and made some mistakes. Not only was there somebody else in the room, but he was also hungry and eating.”
“It just led to this whole deck of cards falling, where had I pitched it under the rules of knowing my audience I could’ve got it through.”
What’s next?
Chris Jericho is presently busy with his music career and band Fozzy, while he continues to make sporadic appearances for the WWE.
Author’s take
Well, leave it Y2J’s brilliant mind to come up with excellent ideas like he always does.
It’s unfortunate that we didn’t get to see the aforementioned showdown, but as a longtime Jerichoholic, I’d be happy seeing Jericho and The List of Jericho come back to the WWE full-time regardless of who shares the ring with him.
