WWE News: Chris Jericho says there are no plans of returning to WWE
What's the story?
Chris Jericho had the best run of his career over the past year, extending up to the year 2017. Currently, he's got a variety of projects happening outside WWE, ranging from his band, Fozzy, to his much-anticipated match against Kenny Omega at Wrestle Kingdom 12.
Because of the multitude of projects he's currently involved with, Jericho said he has no plans of returning to WWE. We bring you his quote via Rolling Stone.
In case you didn't know...
Chris Jericho had many memorable angles during his previous run, from teaming with AJ Styles to feuding with AJ Styles, to teaming up with Kevin Owens, to feuding with Kevin Owens (see the pattern?).
During this run, he even became the United States Champion for the first time in his illustrious career. Jericho left the company in May 2017, perhaps more popular than ever in his career.
The heart of the matter
Jericho cleared up a misconception that people have about him, further indicating that there are currently no plans for his return:
I haven't been full-time with the WWE since 2010. That's something a lot of people don't realize, because when I come back there's always a good angle. And 2016 was one of the best years of my career, so people are always asking when I'm going back but there were no plans to go back. There still isn't.
Jericho is an ambitious man, who always has something brewing, be it in the ring or outside. He elaborated on this and clarified why never returning to WWE wouldn't bother him:
Will I go back? I'm sure I will, but if I don't it wouldn't bother me either because I've had a lot of great times there, but I've got a lot of stuff on the horizon that's building as well.
Chances are that if you're a fan of Jericho, you'll see him in some avatar, somewhere.
If you're not a fan of his, you just made the list!
What's next?
Jericho battles Kenny Omega in a dream battle between Alpha and Omega on January 4th. Who knows if it will prompt a WWE return thereafter? Let's hope it does for sure.
Author's take
Jericho is as old school as it gets, in the sense that he likes to 'work' his audience. I wouldn't be surprised to see him in WWE very soon. Except him to reappear, when you least expect him to.
