WWE News: Chris Jericho says performing at Greatest Royal Rumble is a 'once-in-a-lifetime- opportunity'
What's the story?
Saudi Arabia will host The Greatest Royal Rumble and the event will have a number of top WWE stars performing in Jeddah.
Chris Jericho is also slated to take part in the 50-man Royal Rumble and the Grand Slam champion recently spoke about why he decided to come back to the ring.
In case you didn't know...
The Greatest Royal Rumble is certainly going to be an event that will be worth watching given that both the SmackDown and RAW stars will be in Saudi Arabia.
Every single title in the WWE will be defended at the event, except the two women’s titles, but the 50-man Royal Rumble certainly is the one match that everyone will have eyes on, and, well, The Undertaker taking on Rusev in a casket match.
The heart of the matter
Jericho hasn’t been seen much in the WWE since he took on Kenny Omega at the Wrestle Kingdom 12 pay-per-view for New Japan Pro Wrestling.
The Fozzy star has also been touring with his band for a while but he opened up during CBS Sports’ In Your Corner Podcast where he stated that this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and he felt ‘cool’ about being a part of it.
“It’s just one of those things where it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Obviously, you are getting a chance to work with Saudi Arabia at the highest levels."
Jericho also added that even though the WWE had been in the country earlier, the company was trying something new there.
"We have been there in 2015 but it seems like they are kind of trying to change the way things are done over there. And it’s really cool to have been asked by WWE to be a part of it.”
Jericho was initially supposed to face The Undertaker in the Casket match but now will have to be happy taking part in the Royal Rumble event.
What's next?
The Greatest Royal Rumble is scheduled to take place on 27 April in Jeddah. The event will be available as a pay-per-view and also on the WWE network.
Author's take
It will be nice seeing Jericho back in a WWE ring and even though his future is still not certain, he might have one more great match, this time in Saudi Arabia.
It would have been great to see a Triple-threat casket match alongside Rusev and Taker but I guess we will have to make do with a mega 50-man Rumble.
