What's the story?

The former Tag Team, Intercontinental, and World Heavyweight Champion has been keeping busy with the E&C Podcast of Awesomeness as well as his show with Edge on the WWE Network.

Well, we can add television host to his list of roles, as Ringsidenews.com is reporting that the retired WWE superstar will be the host of the upcoming History Show 'Knight Fight'.

In case you missed it...

Christian was forced to retire from in-ring competition in 2014 due to numerous concussions. The WWE and sports world was starting to take the effects of concussions extremely seriously, and Christian would stop in ring action due to his history of head injuries.

Ever since then, he has remained under the WWE's umbrella. He has a podcast with Edge as well as a show on the WWE Network, Edge and Christian's Show that Totally Reeks of Awesomeness.

He'd sporadically return to Raw or Smackdown on different occasions, but he has primarily stayed absent from WWE programming since his retirement.

Since he's such a talented mic worker, it appears that he caught the eye of the producers of the History Channel, as he'll be hosting their show 'Knight Fight' that debuts towards the end of the month.

The heart of the matter

Christian follows former WWE Superstar Goldberg as another professional wrestler to host a competition show on the History Channel. Goldberg hosts 'Knife or Death' on the channel.

Rinsidenews.com reports that the show will debut on the History Channel on January 23rd at 10 pm. The show, according to the report, involves people putting on the armor and using the weapons like knights did in medieval times.

The website for the History Channel describes the show as following the Armored Combat League, a full-contact fighting league. The description is shown below:

Welcome to the toughest, most violent armored combat competition in the world today. “Knight Fight” steps inside the world of the full-contact Armored Combat League — often referred to as “Medieval MMA” or “Knight Fight Club.” This blood sport is a full-contact armored combat league where modern-day warriors battle in over eighty pounds of plated armor with real steel weapons. Rooted in historical traditions, for the first time, these knights are set to wage war as each episode features six new fighters who customize era-specific armor, garb and weaponry and engage in numerous battle rounds to see who has the skill and strength to win the ultimate Knight Fight. Hosted and judged by WWE superstar Jay “Christian” Reso, the winner walks away with a championship title, $10,000 and a spot in the season finale for a chance to become the first ever “Knight Fight” champion.

Ringsidenews.com also mentions that Christian recently needed to take time off from the E&C Podcast of Awesomeness in order to 'work on a secret project'. This might have been the project he was referring to.

What's next?

Well, it's always refreshing to see pro wrestlers host shows or show up in other walks of life. Edge has ventured into acting and is currently on the History Channel show Vikings. Perhaps he put in a good word for his buddy.

Since athletes are being forced to retire a lot sooner than they may have done so in a previous era, they are often in search of projects to keep them busy if not prominently featured on a pro wrestling show.

Christian followed his buddy into premature retirement, but one's safety and future health is more important than continuing to compete in a dangerous sport.
