WWE News: Chyna’s mother expresses displeasure over trailer of her upcoming documentary

Chyna was one of the greatest female wrestlers of her time

What’s the story?

Chyna’s mother, upon seeing the trailer for her daughter’s upcoming documentary, expressed displeasure about the footage in the trailer.

She mentioned that it portrays Joanie (Chyna) in an unfair way which is not how she would have wanted people to remember her as.

In case you didn’t know

It was a very unfortunate day when we reported that Chyna, often referred to as the 9th Wonder of the World, was deceased.

Chyna had a troubled life after she was let go from the WWE and she eventually turned to abusing drugs and alcohol after short stints at NJPW and TNA.

She was left with a lot of debt and she took up a career in the adult entertainment industry. A compromising video of herself with fellow pro-wrestler Sean Waltman was released by the media in 2004.

Chyna eventually went to rehab and got clean but her fate was such that right on the verge of getting her life back together, she suffered an overdose of alcohol combined with prescription drugs like diazepam and oxycodone.

She was found deceased by her manager Anthony Anzaldo a few days later.

The heart of the story

Watch the trailer below:

According to the mother of the former WWE Superstar:

"Thursday, on the first anniversary of Joanie's death, I was completely blindsided with the documentary trailer producers released. Not only did the director release it, and without telling me, but he put in footage at the end showing Anthony (her former manager) going into Joanie's apartment."

The 9th Wonder of the World has obviously been through a lot in her life but the directors of the documentary apparently aren’t painting her life story in the most positive light, according to her mother.

She mentions that her daughter was trying really hard to get clean and to live a normal life before she so tragically died and the directors should acknowledge the irony of the situation and not leave out certain parts of her life from the documentary just because they are not sensational enough.

Chyna’s mother added:

"It was supposed to be about Joanie's life and her return to a stable situation. Then she died. Now it's all about the morbidity of the whole thing, her spiral downward, and her eventual death. Joanie would definitely NOT want to happen what is happening. I don't care what anyone says. I know her better than anyone, and I can say that for sure. Quite frankly, when she died, the whole thing should have been scrubbed."

Reactions

It has been a year since Chyna passed away but the WWE Universe still misses the former Superstar who broke gender stereotypes and took the first step towards the current state of women’s wrestling in WWE showing that women can fight just as good as the men in the squared circle.

Author’s notes

Chyna is and always will be one of the first Superstars to revolutionise Women’s Wrestling in WWE and I thank her for her contributions to all of pro-wrestling. We hope that her soul finds peace and hope that we all acknowledge her for her legacy in WWE, NJPW and TNA as a successful wrestler.
