WWE News: CM Punk's teammate says he's going to surprise everyone on UFC debut

Punk will make his UFC debut next month

Former WWE Champion CM Punk decided to make the career change from professional wrestling to the grueling and unforgiving sport of mixed martial arts (MMA), following his ugly ending in the WWE that was surrounded by so much controversy. Punk will meet young 24-year-old Mickey Gall on the main card of UFC 203 live on pay-per-view (PPV) from Cleveland Ohio in less than two weeks.

Punk, however, has surrounded himself with a great training camp ahead of his debut as he has been training alongside former UFC lightweight champion Anthony ‘Showtime’ Pettis, who is coming off of a third-round submission victory on Saturday night (August 27, 2016) against Charles Oliveira in his featherweight debut at UFC on FOX 21. Pettis was interviewed by Rodolfo Roman for the event, and had this to say on Punk’s UFC debut:

“Punk is looking good, he’s going to surprise some people. He’s put the time in and it’s been a long time coming. It’s a couple of weeks away, and he’s getting ready.”

“People think he’s horrible, that’s not the case,” he added.

Pettis once reigned as the UFC’s undisputed 155-pound champion before being thrashed for 25 minutes against the now former champ Rafael Dos Anjos at UFC 185. Punk and Pettis have been working tirelessly for the past two years in preparation for ‘The Cult of Personality’s’ UFC debut, and we will get to see just how well Punk has progressed throughout his training come September 10th

Punk has no former combat experience but will still get his opportunity to compete under the bright lights of the UFC after being signed by UFC President Dana White. Punk’s signing sparked much controversy amongst longtime fighters in the organization, who have spent their entire lives working for an achievement that Punk has been subsequently handed. Although Punk will be facing a man with a young record of 2-0, it will be a great test for the former professional wrestler who is going against a man who has been training since he was a child.

Punk and Gall will meet on the main card of UFC 203 live on pay per view (PPV), from the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio on September 10, 2016.
