WWE News: Cody opens up on WWE possibly doing Starrcade again
What’s the story?
On a recent edition of SiriusXM’s Busted Open, Cody spoke about his aspirations of being a pro-wrestling promoter much like his father.
Additionally, Cody asserted his happiness regarding his brother Dustin competing at WWE Starrcade; adding that he’d love to see WWE put forth the event again.
In case you didn’t know…
Following a long, storied tenure in the WWE as Cody Rhodes, ‘Cody’ now wrestles on the independent professional wrestling circuit.
His father, the late-great Dusty Rhodes was a renowned pro-wrestling promoter and competitor. Besides, Cody’s elder brother Dustin aka WWE’s Goldust is also highly respected for his pro-wrestling brilliance.
The heart of the matter
Cody elucidated that although his father is remembered for his immaculate understanding of showmanship in professional wrestling, he truly admires the latter’s promotional genius. Cody referred to his upcoming venture with The Young Bucks wherein they’re funding a 10,000-seat venue for an event; emphasizing that he has the art of promotion in his blood, and only recently realized the same.
In reference to his brother Goldust/Dustin wrestling at the WWE’s recent Starrcade house show—with the latter coming out paying homage to their father Dusty Rhodes—Cody explained that he’s happy that Dustin got to live out such a great moment. Cody added—
"I hope they (WWE) do Starrcade again and I hope they realize from the response it got it should be on the (WWE) Network. It definitely created enough waves and just goodwill. It should be on the Network for sure."
What’s next?
Cody recently dropped the ROH Championship to Dalton Castle and will look to regain the title from the latter in the days to come. Nevertheless, despite Cody’s loss, Bullet Club seem to be in high spirits following ROH Final Battle.
Author’s take
Cody is an excellent tactician and perhaps one of the most intelligent people in the business today.
One couldn’t possibly disagree with Cody as regards WWE bringing back Starrcade next year. Here’s hoping the WWE presents the amazing event on the Network in 2018.
