What's the story?

In the latest Q&A session on Twitter, current IWGP US Champion, Cody Rhodes was asked to answer who his best trainer was after his late-great father Dusty Rhodes.

In case you didn't know...

Following his departure from the WWE in 2016, Cody Rhodes became quite arguably the hottest superstar to step foot on the Independent Circuit, as the former WWE Intercontinental Champion initially started out as the newest member of the Bullet Club and followed up by signing a deal with American promotion Ring of Honor.

Cody, who is currently one of the mainstays in ROH, became ROH World Champion in 2017, marking his first World Title win in his Pro Wrestling career. In 2018, Cody gained further success by competing at the highest level in ROH, NJPW and all over the Independent Circuit as well.

On the 1st of September though, Cody along with his Elite buddies, The Young Bucks, produced their first-ever self-financed wrestling event, All In, which sold out a total of 10,000 seats.

At All In, Cody would win the NWA World Championship and within a few short days, 'The American Nightmare' would also win his first title in NJPW, the IWGP US Championship in order to become a Triple Champion for the very first time in his career.

The heart of the matter

After being asked by a fan on Twitter regarding who his favorite trainer was after his late great father Dusty Rhodes, 'The American Nightmare' Cody rather had a little surprising response to the question claiming that Dusty seemingly trained him in a very different way and in the ring 'Dream' would literally just gave his son a bodyslam, a chop, and a hip toss when he was 12.

Cody further explained his statement by noting that it was rather the likes of WWE legend Al Snow, Hall of Famer Robert Gibson (better known as Ricky Morton), and 13-time WWE Champion and veteran, Randy Orton who are the actual guys who had trained Cody.

What's next?

Cody is currently set to challenge for the ROH World Title at the upcoming ROH: Final Battle pay-per-view and if 'The American Nightmare' wins the championship off Jay Lethal, then he will have the chance of calling himself Double Champion once again.
