WWE News: Cody Rhodes comments on a possible return to the WWE
What’s the story?
Earlier today, Ring of Honor superstar Cody Rhodes had an exchange with a fan on Twitter regarding a potential return to his former company WWE in the future.
In case you didn’t know…
Cody Rhodes initially joined the WWE in 2006 as part of the company’s developmental promotion OVW, where he became a Triple Crown Champion and was eventually called to the main roster in 2007. Upon his debut on the main roster, Rhodes worked for the WWE for a total of 9 years, first under his real in-ring name and later portraying the Stardust moniker.
During his time with the WWE, Cody won the WWE Intercontinental Championship on two different occasions and was also a six-time WWE Tag Team Champion as well, however, in May of 2016, Cody eventually left the WWE after requesting for his release.
The heart of the matter
Following his departure from the WWE, Cody Rhodes became one of the most successful superstars to ever step foot into the Independent circuit and after earning an immense amount of success for several indie promotions, Rhodes eventually made the biggest move of his post-WWE career when the 32-year-old signed a contract with top American promotion Ring of Honor and became the newest member of the Bullet Club shortly afterward, making his debut for New Japan Pro Wrestling in the process as well.
However, despite being at the top of his game right now, Cody has been seemingly asked on numerous occasions regarding a possible return to the WWE and earlier today, a Twitter user once again brought up the same topic regarding a possible return to the WWE for ‘The American Nightmare’.
Rhodes responded to the question by stating that as of right now, a possible move back to the WWE is very unlikely for him, but despite that, there is certainly no denying the fact that the WWE definitely holds a huge place in the former Ring of Honor World Champion’s heart.
What’s next?
Cody Rhodes will next be in action at NJPW: Wrestling Dontaku on 3rd May 2018 when he squares-off in a Wrestle Kingdom 12 rematch against Kota Ibushi.
Author’s take
Since his departure from the WWE, Cody Rhodes has arguably proved himself to be the hottest star to ever step foot into the Indie circuit and personally, I feel there is absolutely no reason whatsoever for Rhodes to make a return to the WWE.
