WWE News: Current champion reportedly suffers a gruesome injury at Live Event
What's the story?
With the return of Becky Lynch and Triple H responding to Batista's challenge, Monday Night Raw has gotten off to an explosive start tonight, however, the big news of the day is currently being reported from a SmackDown Live House Show in White Plains.
As per reported by numerous live attendance fans on Twitter, current SmackDown Live Women's Champion, Asuka has reportedly suffered an injury at tonight's WWE Live Event in New York.
In case you didn't know...
After successfully defending her title against Becky Lynch at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view, 'The Empress of Tomorrow' Asuka ignited a fresh rivalry against SmackDown upstart Mandy Rose.
Rose, who recently defeated Asuka on an episode of SD Live, earned herself a shot at the SmackDown Women's Championship at the upcoming Fastlane pay-per-view and the duo has also been sharing the center stage during recent WWE House Shows as well.
The heart of the matter
Prior to Asuka's next big SmackDown Women's Title defense at Fastlane, the WWE Universe got a preview of things to come, as 'The Empress of Tomorrow' put her championship on the line against 'God's Greatest Creation' Mandy Rose at tonight's WWE Live Event in White Plains, New York.0
However, the match itself ended in a pretty disturbing manner and was eventually stopped after Asuka got slammed on her head, forcing the referee to stop the bout and call for the backstage medical staff for further attention on the current champion.
Backstage medical facility quickly ran down to the ring and helped 'The Empress of Tomorrow' and the match was declared as a no contest.
What's next?
With WrestleMania 35 just a month away, Asuka's injury is something WWE truly cannot afford at the moment, given that she is the current SmackDown Live Women's Champion. We truly hope that the injury is nothing too serious and 'The Empress of Tomorrow' returns to action just in time for 'Mania 35.
